Day 1: Shimla – Sangla / Chitkul (230 km / 8-9 hrs) Early drive via Kufri, Narkanda, Rampur.
Enter Kinnaur Valley, pass through Sutlej River gorges.
Visit Kamru Fort or relax by the Baspa River in Chitkul – India’s last village near Tibet. Overnight stay in Sangla or Chitkul.
Day 2: Sangla – Kalpa (40 km / 2 hrs) Post breakfast, drive to Kalpa, known for its apple orchards and snow-capped Kinner Kailash range.
Visit Roghi & Suicide Point, Kalpa Monastery. Overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 3: Kalpa – Nako – Tabo (190 km / 7-8 hrs) Scenic drive through Spillow, Khab (confluence of Sutlej & Spiti rivers).
Visit the serene Nako Lake and Monastery.
Cross into Spiti and reach Tabo, home to the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery. Overnight stay in Tabo.
Day 4: Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza (70 km / 4 hrs) Visit Dhankar Monastery perched on a cliff – stunning views!
Optional: Trek to Dhankar Lake (1.5–2 hrs round trip).
Reach Kaza, the main town of Spiti Valley.
Evening at leisure or local market visit. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 5: Kaza – Key – Kibber – Hikkim – Komic – Langza – Kaza (Local Circuit) Full-day local sightseeing:
Key Monastery – Spiti’s biggest monastery
Kibber Village – among the highest inhabited villages
Hikkim – world’s highest post office
Komic – one of the world’s highest villages
Langza – fossil village with a giant Buddha statue Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 6: Kaza – Chandratal Lake (100 km / 5-6 hrs) Cross Kunzum Pass (4,590 m) – gateway between Lahaul & Spiti.
Reach Chandratal Lake (Moon Lake) – a magical high-altitude glacial lake.
Short hike from parking to lake (~1.5 km).
Enjoy stargazing at night. Overnight stay in camps near Chandratal.
Day 7: Chandratal – Manali (120 km / 7-8 hrs) Early start towards Manali, crossing Batal, Chhatru, and Atal Tunnel.
Rugged roads along the Chandra River – true Himalayan adventure!
Reach Manali by evening. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 8: Departure from Manali Post breakfast, depart for onward journey (Delhi/Chandigarh) via cab or Volvo.
